About
Lucas

Educator, technology leader, games-and-learning advocate, and builder of BitWizard Studio.

Lucas Gillispie is a 28-year veteran educator, exploring the places where learning, play, story, technology, and professional growth collide. BitWizard Studio is his current digital tower: part workshop, part notebook, part public signal for projects old and new.

Current Signal

Lucas is a district technology leader in western North Carolina and a former high school science teacher. His professional work has centered on instructional technology, digital learning, game-based learning, teacher professional development, and helping educators turn new tools into meaningful classroom practice.

His background includes an undergraduate degree in Biology and a Master of Science in Instructional Technology from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, where his thesis work studied the effects of a 3D video game on middle school students' achievement and attitude in mathematics.

From EduRealms to BitWizard

Before BitWizard Studio, EduRealms served as Lucas's professional campfire: a home for conference resources, blog posts, research links, classroom experiments, game-based learning projects, and practical tools for educators.

That work included MMORPG curriculum, Minecraft-based learning, mobile games, virtual worlds, VR and AR pilots, esports reflections, gamification, and the early roots of EPIC Academy. BitWizard Studio carries that lineage forward with a newly designed home that is just as nerdy as before.
